ZONING COMMITTEE

The mission of the zoning committee is to assist the ANC to enhance the quality of neighborhoods and encourage government best practices by, among other things:

·         Initiating and participating in activities related to the updating of the Office of Planning’s Comprehensive Plan;

·         Urging adoption of best practices by the Office of Zoning and the Department of Consumer & Regulatory Affairs in the interpretation, updating and enforcement of DCMR 11 and 12 (zoning and building codes); and

·         Urging better enforcement of regulations relating to the environment, stormwater management and tree and slope protections;

·         Assisting on an as-needed basis in the analysis of complex zoning cases that come before the ANC, including assistance in preparing for BZA cases;

·         Working within ANC 3D, and in partnership with ANC 3D neighborhood associations, to educate homeowners and neighbors concerning their rights and responsibilities under Title 11 and related areas of regulation.

 The direction, make-up and activities of the zoning committee shall be governed by Article VII (Committees) of the commission’s by-laws.
