Subject: Reprieve on Parking on Whitehaven
In response to protests from ANC3D (and intervention of Carol Schwartz),
the Traffic Services Administration has withdrawn its proposed rule,
scheduled to go into effect later this month, removing the zoned parking
along a lower stretch of Whitehaven Parkway and making it into all-day
parking for the convenience of The Lab School. Colleen Smith, the
transportation coordinator at DDOT for Ward 3, said DDOT "will not be
moving forward with plans to change the parking."
I still believe it desirable that ANC3D take a position on the proposed
change in parking on Whitehaven and that the item remain on the agenda for
our November meeting. I will renew our invitation to
Sally Smith,
Founder/Director of The Lab School of
Washington to come to the meeting to explain why the Lab School needs additional parking on Whitehaven.
