Subject: RE: Emergency Snow Routes

Hello all:  After reviewing the current snow emergency routes, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) published a rulemaking in the D.C. Register (October 31, 2003) to identify the proposed snow emergency routes for the 2003 - 2004 snow season.  The proposed list of snow emergency routes includes all of the routes from the past snow season, with three additions.

*        Reservoir Road NW from Foxhall Road to Wisconsin Avenue
*        M Street NW from Pennsylvania Avenue to Connecticut Avenue
*        H Street NE from North Capitol Street to Bladensburg Road

We believe the addition of Reservoir Road would provide an additional east/west corridor in the southern part of Wards 2 and 3 and improve transportation to and from Georgetown University Hospital during a snow emergency.

At this point, the 30 day comment period has expired and we will not be looking at MacArthur Boulevard for inclusion in this snow season's list of emergency routes. However, if this is something the community would like to pursue, you can do so through the ANC. Once DDOT receives a notice or resolution from the ANC we will consider placing MacArthur Boulevard on the snow emergency route for next season.
