Re:
Streetlight Contract in Spring Valley neighborhood

Dear
Commissioners Hamilton and Shipley-
Per
your request, following are the components of the revised proposal that
were agreed upon by the Commissioners present to represent the citizens
of Spring Valley, and the DDOT representatives on Thursday, January 16th,
2003.
The
high-pressure sodium (HPS) lights will be 150 watts in order to meet federal
and District guidelines. To address the citizens' concern of too many
streetlights in the original proposal, the contract now consists of less
than 1/2 of those initial streetlights. As requested, these lights will
be placed on both sides of the street, at 150-foot intervals, on the diagonal.
The current number of streetlights and their street location, along with
the number of existing streetlights, is posted below.
The
work is scheduled to begin in about two weeks.
It
was a pleasure to work with you and the community on this proposal
and we are pleased to have come to a mutually acceptable
agreement. As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact
me (202-671-2228), or Mr. Khalid (202-671-2248).
